A Kitchen Designed
Around Everyday Living
Thoughtful cabinetry, warm finishes, and a more functional layout come together in this Ludington kitchen remodel, creating a welcoming space with plenty of storage and room to cook, gather, and enjoy everyday life.
Creating a Kitchen That Works Better
This kitchen remodel was all about making the space work better for the two sisters who call it home. They wanted plenty of storage, a more practical layout, and finishes that would make the kitchen feel warm, inviting, and ready for everyday life.
Working from a new kitchen layout, we updated the cabinetry, countertops, and key plumbing and electrical components to bring everything together. The result is a kitchen that makes better use of its space while balancing the practical details with a cohesive, finished look.
A Fresh Start for the Layout
We began by removing the existing cabinets and tile backsplash to make room for the new design. The existing sink and kitchen faucet were carefully saved for reuse, allowing them to be incorporated into the updated layout.
Behind the scenes, we completed the plumbing rough-ins for the sink and dishwasher, relocated the refrigerator water line to its new position, and adjusted outlets and switches to accommodate the new cabinet and island arrangement. We also added switched under-cabinet lighting along the north and east walls, bringing additional light to the main work areas.
These updates helped prepare the kitchen for its new layout while keeping the focus on how the space would function day to day.
Storage That Works Harder
One of the main priorities was making sure everything had a place. The new Omega cabinetry, supplied in the Benson door style, includes upper and base cabinets along with the storage and organizational features selected for the layout.
Pumice on Maple and Desert on Quarter-Sawn Oak bring two complementary finishes into the design, adding warmth and subtle contrast without making the kitchen feel busy. Thoughtful cabinet placement and integrated storage options help keep everyday essentials organized while leaving the countertops ready for cooking and meal preparation.
The combination of practical storage and contrasting finishes gives the kitchen a look that feels considered without sacrificing usability.
Quartz Finishes That Tie It Together
For the countertops and island, we installed Kelvingrove quartz by Cambria, creating a consistent surface throughout the main work areas. The design continues onto the north and east walls with a matching full-height quartz backsplash, giving the kitchen a clean, connected look.
The existing sink was reused, with the new countertop cut to accommodate its placement in the updated layout. We also completed the necessary wall repairs and painted the north and east walls with Sherwin-Williams Emerald paint in a satin finish.
Together, the quartz surfaces, cabinetry, and fresh wall color bring the different elements into balance, while the under-cabinet lighting adds another practical layer to the finished space.
A Kitchen Ready for Everyday Life
With the new cabinetry installed, plumbing and electrical work completed, and finishing details in place, the kitchen came together as a more organized and functional space.
The two sisters now have thoughtfully planned storage, practical countertop space, and a cohesive design that feels welcoming without losing sight of everyday needs. By reworking the layout and updating the key elements around it, we were able to give the kitchen a fresh look while making better use of the existing space.
It's a great example of how a kitchen remodel can make a difference through more than appearances alone. When the layout, storage, lighting, and finishes work together, the entire space becomes easier to use and enjoy.
