A Year-Round Sunroom Transformation
From Sunroom to Four-Season Space
A Space to Enjoy All Year
Ludington, MI
These homeowners loved having a sunroom but wanted to make the space more comfortable and usable throughout the year, especially during the warmer months!
By updating the existing structure with insulated walls and ceiling, new windows and doors, and a completely new roof system, we were able to transform the sunroom into a more comfortable four-season space!
What Makes It a Four-Season Room?
A four-season room is designed to feel more like an extension of the home rather than a separate seasonal space. With insulation, updated windows and doors, and a properly insulated roof and ceiling, the room can be enjoyed more comfortably throughout the year.
A New Roof & Structure
The existing flat roof and portions of the sunroom were removed to make way for the new structure.
We added a new concrete footing and framed new walls to match the height of the existing home. A new pitched roof was then built over the sunroom and garage and tied into the home's existing roofline.
New shingles, soffit, fascia, and gutters completed the exterior!
New Windows & Door
Seven new Andersen 100 Series windows were installed throughout the room, bringing in plenty of natural light and creating a great connection to the outdoors.
A new 9-lite fiberglass entry door with a storm door was also added, creating an inviting entrance into the space.
Comfort & Finishing Touches
The new walls were insulated with R-19 fiberglass insulation, with R-59 insulation added above the ceiling to help keep the space comfortable throughout the year. Electrical updates included new outlets, exterior GFCI outlets, and wiring for two ceiling fans with lights, perfect for enjoying the space during the warmer months.
Inside, clear-coated tongue-and-groove wood was installed on the new walls and ceiling, adding warmth and character to the room. New trim around the windows and door, along with new flooring, completed the space.
A Sunroom Made for More
The finished space gives the homeowners a comfortable place to enjoy natural light and views of the outdoors while still having the comfort of being inside!
What was once a seasonal sunroom is now a more finished, comfortable space designed to be enjoyed throughout the year.
At Matthew 6 Construction, we love helping homeowners make the most of the spaces they already have and create something that better fits the way they want to enjoy their home. 🧡
