A Seasonal Home,
Reimagined
An interior and exterior transformation that brings new life to a longtime family getaway.
A Hamlin Lake Cottage, Reimagined | Ludington, MI
This Hamlin Lake cottage has been a special place for the family for years, even with the homeowners living in California. Over time, the home was ready for an update, and they wanted to give it a brighter, more modern feel while keeping the character and memories that made it special.
The result was a full interior and exterior remodel that refreshed the cottage from top to bottom, including the home, boathouse, and surrounding spaces.
Renovating from a Distance
Taking on a major renovation from across the country takes trust, communication, and a team you can count on. From the initial walkthrough to the finishing touches, we worked closely with the homeowners remotely, sharing progress photos, providing updates, and keeping them involved in decisions along the way.
As with many renovation projects, a few unexpected challenges came up. By staying in communication and working through them together, we were able to keep the project moving and bring their vision to life, even from miles away.
A Fresh Look Inside and Out
Inside, the cottage received a complete refresh, with updated drywall, new flooring throughout the living spaces, and a brighter kitchen featuring white cabinetry, quartz countertops, and a new tile backsplash. Updated lighting helped open up the main living areas, while thoughtful details like a custom wood beam and built-in-style bar shelving added warmth and character.
We also updated the home's insulation, replaced interior doors and trim, and refreshed the screened porch to create a more cohesive feel throughout.
Outside, the transformation continued. New white board-and-batten siding, black windows, updated entry doors, and matching shutters gave the cottage a clean, modern look. The boathouse and garage received attention, too, tying the exterior updates together across the property.
The mix of crisp white siding and black accents gives the home a fresh appearance while still feeling right at home on Hamlin Lake.
A Cottage Ready for What's Next
With the remodel complete, the cottage feels like a whole new home while holding onto what made it meaningful in the first place. The updated interior is brighter and more comfortable, and the refreshed exterior gives the entire property a more cohesive look.
We're grateful the family trusted us with such a meaningful project, especially from so far away. Now, their Hamlin Lake cottage is ready for many more summers, family gatherings, and memories to come.
“When you do a major renovation in Ludington but live in California, you hope and pray that you find the right company. From day one, the team was knowledgeable and trustworthy. They consistently communicated, sent progress photos and updates, and handled any bumps along the way with professionalism.
Our cottage is now completely transformed, beautiful, modern, and comfortable. It’s beyond what we expected, and we’re so excited to make new memories here for years to come.”
